Crafting an Irresistible Offer - Part 2
First things first: If you haven’t checked out this article about Why Mass Marketing Doesn’t Work For Small Business, you probably want to start there. It’s worth it, trust me.⠀
The number one thing you can do to make marketing for your business pay off is: craft an Irresistible Offer.
An Offer That is Impossible to Refuse.
Here’s how:⠀
The Deadliest Mistake When Crafting An Offer
Let’s say we run a landscaping business and we need to come up with a good offer to attract clients.⠀
Most business owners will come up with something like:⠀
‘Call us today for free consultation’
or
⠀
‘We’ve been in business for 15 years and we’re experts in our field’⠀
Look around you and you’ll see this type of marketing EVERYWHERE.⠀
Here’s the major problem with it:⠀
It’s B-O-R-I-N-G.
Read my article on why being boring is the biggest sin in marketing. HERE.⠀
There is nothing unique about it. Every single business on the face of the earth has the same offer.
There is nothing to set you apart from the competition and you know when nothing sets you apart, then price is the only thing that matters.
And
Trust me on this one, you do not want to compete on the price.
Your offer needs to get your prospect’s blood running hot.
The First Element Of Your Irresistible Offer
Crafting an irresistible offer doesn’t mean you start coming with outrageous stuff.⠀
Free stuff, 90% discount, guarantee for 3 generations and all the other good stuff doesn’t matter at all.⠀
That’s not what I mean.⠀
Getting my haircut done is very boring to me. Even if I schedule an appointment and call ahead, I still have to wait for 20-30 mins sometimes to get my hair done. But if I don’t get my hair done every 2-3 weeks, I will look like a bear.
So, in the third week it shoots to the top of my list of things that are interesting.⠀I start looking for haircuts and what do I see?
‘Haircuts for men’
‘25% discount. Book here’
‘Look your best, same day appointments’⠀
All of that stuff doesn’t cut it. Because it doesn’t step into MY world. The world of your customer.⠀
And you know what my main question is about this hair cut thing?⠀
“How long is this going to take?”⠀
So if you want to make it interesting for me you come up with something like:⠀
‘Book your 30 minute hair cut online. No wait time’⠀
That’s a great start for an offer. It’s not an irresistible offer yet, but at least we’re making progress.⠀
You don’t fix ‘the boring problem’ by being outrageous.⠀
You fix ‘the boring problem’ by thinking about your customer, stepping into his world, entering the conversation going on in his mind.⠀
That’s only one element though. A great Offer usually has three, so we still have two more to go.⠀
We’ll talk about those in the next article in this series.⠀
